Introduction

Beijing Aviation Science and Technology Co., Ltd. (BASC) (derived from Beijing Aviation Simulator Company) is a subsidiary of China Aviation Industry Corporation I (AVIC I). It was established in 1975. It was the pioneer specialized in the development and production of large size aviation simulators in China.

At the end of 2001, as a strategic action of AVIC 1, BASC was created as a result of structural reorganization. After the reorganization, the company has become a hi-tech enterprise with modern enterprises system.

Mr. Jin Dongsheng

Chairman of Board of Directors

This action has brought a long-term sustainable development environment to BASC. The BASC capabilities of aviation simulator design, production, after-sales service, and the total competition power in the aviation simulation market have been strengthened.

Now BASC has grown up into a comprehensive hi-tech aviation enterprise integrating the development and production of aviation simulators and training devices, airborne equipment, ground-air testing equipment and other electronic products. It is also engaged in the study of human-machine function simulation technology of aviation and ship platforms.

BASC occupies 4,233 square meters of land at No.9, Kaituo Road, Shangdi Information Industry Base, Haidian District, Beijing, China.

BASC has 110 employees, including 85 engineers. Senior engineers account for 26% of the total employees. They specialize in aerodynamics, aero engine, avionics, optics, mechanics, hydraulic control, automatic control, and computer software and hardware. We have a number of domestic leading scholars of aviation simulation, as well as experienced management personnel of simulation projects.

Accumulated from the long-term experience of simulation products R&D and production, now BASC has advanced multi-mission and multi-interface processor and computer system as well as real-time management software; advanced simulator interface system (including digital acquisition/control module); the simulation models of engines, avionics, and electromechanical control systems of different types of aircraft; sophisticated tuning and testing application software; 3-degree of freedom and 6-degree of freedom motion platform; digital operation load system, vibration seat and anti-g load suit simulation system; computer imaging system; wide-view image display system; and hi-fi audio system.

Now BASC has become an important base for the R&D of military aircraft simulators in China. It is also the only Chinese manufacturer for export aviation simulator products.

The company has developed and produced F-6 fighter flight simulator, Y-5 small transport aircraft flight simulator, export CH-47 helicopter simulator, Y-7-100 transport aircraft full-mission simulator, F-8 fighter flight simulator, K-8E training aircraft flight simulator for Egypt, MA-60 passenger plane full-mission flight simulator, engineering simulator for ARJ21 regional jet, and K-8S training aircraft flight simulator for Sudan, etc.

The F-6 fighter flight simulator was the first aviation simulator of China which won the first class award of science and technology achievements by the Ministry of Aviation Industry and the first class award of science and technology progress by the State. Y-7-100 transport aircraft full-mission simulator was the first civil aircraft simulator of China which won the first class award of science and technology progress by Aviation Industries of China (AVIC). The export CH-47 helicopter simulator was an excellent example of Iranian foreign cooperation. The F-8 fighter flight simulator has reached the international level of the 1990s.

Since the structural reform, under the leadership of AVIC I and the board of directors of BASC, the company has delivered several high-level aviation simulators to the Chinese and foreign users. The K-8E training aircraft flight simulators won satisfactory remarks of Egypt Air Force. The MA-60 passenger plane full-mission flight simulator was the first C-level flight simulator developed by China and passed the acceptance inspection by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Through the development of MA-60 passenger plane full-mission flight simulator, BASC has mastered the programming and application of the whole QTG testing software. The engineering simulator for the armed helicopter has passed the acceptance inspection smoothly and is delivered to No. 613 Research Institute of AVIC I.

BASC also has its unique advantages in the areas of multi-function color crystal display, airborne and missile-borne smart radio altimeter, air data comprehensive measurement, airborne electromechanical integrated products, and ground testing equipment. These products widely use high-speed embedded computer software and hardware as well as real-time multi-mission operation environment, comparable to the advanced international level.

On the basis of GB/T19001 and GJB9001A-2001 quality management system standard, BASC has passed the IS09001:2000 quality system accreditation.

The application of standardization has increased the interchangeability of various parts, giving a quick and low cost maintenance and repair. BASC simulators can continuously work 20 hours a day with no breakdown, and their availability is over 90%.

In the past years, BASC has introduced the improved project management system, and adopted new design software and innovative technology to cut the simulator development and production cycle, with higher efficiency in design, processing and tuning. Through years of accumulation, BASC has established complete database of software, 3D models of different aircraft, and a large number of latest training scenarios.

The modular type management has increased the transplantability of the software, thus increasing the development speed. The advanced development tools enables the engineers to put more time and energy into innovation, with lower labor load as well as lower risk and cost of development.

Under the leadership of AVIC I, BASC will continue to carry out the development and advanced study of man-machine function simulation and application. It aims to establish a flight training center with the support of AVIC I and finally present a whole package simulation service of advanced study, product development, operation and maintenance, user training, and flight training.

Besides the simulation products, BASC will also expand its business scopes to cover related products of aviation, navy, car-borne electronics and electro-mechanical integration.
